Daughter of Rage

In Daughter of Rage, we follow Maria and her mother Lilith, who live together near Nicaragua’s biggest landfill. Here, they survive by collecting metal scraps and breeding their dogs to sell their puppies. Although you see they are clearly struggling in this living situation, their relationship is still strong and loving.

At the start of the movie, we see Maria and many other children at the landfill, collecting trash. She also finds some food for her dogs, but because it's rotten, the puppies die before they can be sold. This causes her mother more financial trouble, and she is forced to leave Maria with some men who run a sweatshop. Here she meets the boy Tadeo, and they form a bond, before she runs away in search of her mother.
