Mariana wants to escape far, far away. Away from Bogotá, away from her family. She sets her sights on Malta, but the path there will not be easy.

For Mariana, life in Bogotá is challenging. She tries her best to have a good life: working in customer service for money, studying German on the side with future travels as motivation, and satisfying her sexual desires by sleeping with random men. One day, she randomly meets her former schoolmate Gabriel, which forces her to delve deeper into herself to understand why she wants to travel.

Malta had its world premiere at South by Southwest in 2024.
