New Dawn Fades

Akin has been in and out of hospitals for years due to mental health issues. Gradually, he loses his grip on his own reality and disappears into another one.

After being discharged from the hospital, Akin spends most of his time at home, except for occasional trips to religious monuments in Istanbul. On these trips, he falls into religious ecstasies when encountering the beautiful religious structures. They trigger something within him. New Dawn Fades follows Akin over three days and is a powerful drama about religion and mental health. The film premiered at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in 2024.
