Vanishing Tracks
In the foothills of Iran’s Zagros Mountains, Valiollah and Dorna live the final years of a vanishing nomadic life - one that grows harder and more fragile each year under the pressure of settlement policies.
Their three sons study in Shiraz - none is willing to follow their parents’ path, drawn instead to the promises of the city. One night, twelve sheep disappear from the family herd. The police never arrive. With the help of a local tracker, Valiollah locates the thieves’ hideout, an event that exposes a widening generational divide within the family.
The film had its world premiere at Hot Docs, and its US premiere at Tribeca.
