CACTUS FLOWER premiering at the Rotterdam Int. Film Festival
Hala Elkoussy's debut, the Sørfond-supported Cactus Flower, is up for its world premiere in the prestigous Bright Future-competition at Rotterdam International Film Festival. The film is co-produced by DUOFilm AS.
Hala Elkoussy hits the festival scene with a strong debut set on the streets of Cairo, Elkoussy's hometown. Due to unfortunate circumstances both the stuggling actress Aida and her neighbour Samiha, an aging diva, find themselves evicted from their homes and on the streets in search of a safe place to spend the night. Their search leads the two ladies on an adventurous journey through a threatening and chaotic city, meeting up with estranged family member and former friends and lovers.
Cactus Flower received support from Sørfond in 2016. The film is co-produced with the Norwegian company DUOFilm AS, represented by Linda Bolstad, Marie Fuglestein Lægreid and Ingrid Lill Høgtun.
