Pitching Forum quite popular!

With over a hundred applicants for this years pitching forum, it is fair to say SØRFOND Pitching Forum is high in demand.

We have recieved over a hundred applications for this years pitching forum, says Elisabeth Opdal, Project Manager for SØRFOND Forum.

- The response is just astonishing, we are absolutely delighted that the forum is high in demand. The applications will be handed over to the jury the following days and we expect a decision to be made by the middle of September.

The Films From the South Foundation organises the SØRFOND Pitching Forum on October 15th, in connection with the annual Films from the South festival, October 9th-19th in Oslo, Norway.

The purpose of the pitching forum is to give potential main producers the opportunity to present their projects to potential Norwegian minority producers, with a view to enter into a co-production agreement and apply for support from SØRFOND. 6-8 international film projects will be selected by the jury.

Filmmakers in developing countries struggle with realising film projects. They have the need for both production capital and international professional networks. Film as a cultural expression is important, hence SØRFOND was created to promote diversity and artistic integrity on the international film scene, and to strengthen freedom of expression.

 - This is a unique way to stimulate production of film in developing countries and also increased cooperation between Norwegian and international film industries, Elisabeth adds.
