Supported projects premieres at Venice and Toronto Filmfestival

New SØRFOND supported projects premieres at Venice and Toronto Filmfestival in prestigous Films Critics Week and FF Discovery section.

Both Venice and Toronto Filmfestival  unveiled their lineups recently and displayed inclusion of two of  the most recent SØRFOND supported projects to be finalized. At the Venice Filmfestival; Vietnamese director Diep Nguyen Hoang found her place in the prestigous Films Critics Week, with her first feature; Flapping in the middle of nowhere. Truly an  impressive start for a first time director. In a surprisingly strong festival doublebill Diep was also included in the Toronto FF Discovery section – making her achivement even more impressive. In the Toronto Discovery lineup we also found female Pakistani director Afia Nathaniel, with her new  SØRFOND supported feature Dukhtar.

Norwegian co-producers Alan Milligan at Film Farms (Flapping in the middle of nowhere) and Carsten Aanonsen at Indie Film (Dukhtar) should indeed be very satisfied with their choice of partners and projects. Both films will be screened at the upcoming Films from the South Festival in Oslo on October 9th to 19th.
