SØRFOND recieves 12 millions

NOK 12 million (EUR 1.4 million) is granted in new support for SØRFOND, The Norwegian South Film Fund, by The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Including the remaining NOK 1.4 million available for 2015 SØRFOND will share a total of NOK 13.4 million in grants for production support over the next 4 years. Minumum NOK 3 million will be granted in 2015.

Sørfond was established in 2011 with funds from the Foreign Ministry. The fund grants financial support for film productions in developing countries, that for political or financial reasons have difficulty completing their film project. The Norwegian Film Institute and Film from South administers the fund with assets from the Ministry of Culture. In the period 2012-2014, the fund has granted NOK 8.6 million to 18 films from 16 different countries.

A new round of SØRFOND gives ambitious storytellers, tools to enter the international film scene with new stories and new angels on our common present and future in cooperation with Norwegian producers. For us it is a win win situation, says Lasse Skagen, Artistic Director from Films from the South.
