SØRFOND researching a possible new distribution module to existing production support
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have granted SØRFOND means to research a possible added feature to the existing production support scheme of the fund. The goal of the research process is to find a model that is suitable to use, in supporting granted project with a distribution part. We are hoping that the additional distribution part will enhance the prospects for the funded films to reach a broader audience.
Norwegian film director Jon Haukeland will be in charge of researching and recommendation of a strategy/model, based on inputs from relevant players in the international film industry.
- To contribute in the prospect of the funded films to reach a broader audience will be our concern in this project. Inputs on good distribution strategies from existing and new applicants for grants from SØRFOND will be greatly appreciated, says Artistic Director Lasse Skagen at The Films from the South Foundation.
The finalized report will be presented to The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs mid June 2015. If they choose to support a distribution model based on the recommendation in the report, distribution grants could be implemented in the next call for the fund – ultimo February 2016.
